This is Bianca Marroquin's part 2 of their Denver soundcheck. At the end, there's a tiny bit of Bianca singing "Nowadays" in Spanish. Awesome video....

Two wonderful Carol Channing interviews
Mar 23rd, 2014 7:06 AM by Patti LuPone FANatic

I saw the second interview. She is amazing. Although she comes across as a little "dotty", it's done with a purpose. Carol knows exactly what she is doing and times everything her own way. I did get the impression that she didn't like talking about serious subjects. She is in her 90's now, so what the heck is taking so long with her being honored by the Kennedy Center?? Love her....

Elvis has landed at the Ambassador Theatre in "Chicago." Here are the pics from his opening night. If someone out there has a chance to see him, let us know how he is doing. It's nice to see some of the male ensemble in the pictures. Usually, they are ignored when it comes to publicity for the show....

ROCKY Reviews
Mar 14th, 2014 12:08 AM by Patti LuPone FANatic

Very recently, I was listening to a Broadway actress on Sirius XM on Broadway. It may have been Karen Ziemba. Anyway, this person was mentioning how sad that some shows suffer because certain influential critics have too much influence. She noted that there are too many out there who actually don't go to a show, because of what one critic or another says about a show. I say that is you're curious about Rocky, go see it and make up your own mind....

I don't get that sense about him. Yes, he's an acquired taste to some, but... all in all, he's a very knowledgeable person about music and the theatre. I don't think he's a know-it-all....but rather he knows a lot and knows a lot of people involved in musical theatre. I feel that he's Broadway's biggest supporter/cheerleader. Now, Julie James knows a lot about the theatre, but she tends to over-praise to the nth degree. Love Christine Pedi....

Jonart, I agree with you. She'd make a great Velma. Here's a video clip of a Univision dance show in Mexico called "Mira Quien Baila" (Look Who Dances). I just had a fleeting thought. Since "Chicago" would benefit from having a brand new "Velma", I think Patina Miller would be a brilliant choice. She wouldn't have to do a long term contract, maybe even 8 weeks or so. Who knows if she would even consider taking on the role of "Velma"? She'd be perfection, I believe....

How long do you think the long-running shows have left?
Feb 14th, 2014 11:10 PM by Patti LuPone FANatic

It is hard to imagine Broadway without "Chicago." However, at some point, it is bound to happen. I wish the producers would tweak the show to a certain degree. At the very least, they could offer the role of Velma to more than just one person. Having one person monopolize that role becomes boring after a while. Other ladies can do justice to the role (for example, Leigh Zimmerman). Anyone but A.F.W....
